Winter experiences
If you need a change from carving down the slopes every now and then, there is a great selection of different activities in and around Schladming that are just waiting to be explored by you.
Cross-country skiing
Did you know that Ramsau is Austria’s sunniest cross-country skiing center? With almost 220 kilometers of trails, you won’t get bored quickly. The high plateau offers you numerous classic, skating and sports trails and a special highlight: the panoramic trail on the Dachstein glacier.

The moment you look an alpaca in the eye, you’ll fall in love – that’s a promise! Alpacas are friendly, good-natured, intelligent, and loving animals.
During a hike, you will learn all kinds of interesting facts about the animals, their habits, and needs, while enjoying nature with your new cuddly hiking friend.
As alpacas are calm and cozy animals, these hikes are also suitable for children (without baby carriages).
Ice skating
A small, fine ice rink right next to the Schladming adventure pool offers plenty of space for ice princesses and skaters to do a few laps on the prepared ice surface. You can warm up and refresh yourself at the bistro.
Horse-drawn sleigh
Snuggle up warm under a blanket and let the horses pull you through the winter landscape. In Rohrmoos or Ramsau, there are numerous providers who ensure very special moments, fun conversations, and 100% romantic memories.
Tobogganing
Did you know that tobogganing is the most popular sport in the region after skiing? It should definitely not be missing from your winter vacation to-do list.
The 7 km long toboggan run on the Hochwurzen invites you to toboggan during the day and at night. The ascent is easy with the gondola or for the sporty ones in approx. 2.5 hours via the 4-season trail. There are refreshment stops on the mountain, in the valley, and along the toboggan run.
Snowshoe hiking
“Slow down step by step and enjoy the impressive mountain scenery” is probably the best way to describe snowshoeing. Snowshoe tours of varying degrees of difficulty are available to you. From beginners to advanced hikers, everyone gets their money’s worth.
For very special hikes, book a mountain and ski guide. They will take you to the most beautiful, safest, and untouched areas.
